Chestnut View Care Home
Located in the heart of Haslemere, Chestnut View is a modern residence commanding a corner position with Lion Green Park only a short distance walk across the road, providing a popular attraction for our residents.
Surrey has many charming small towns and villages but Haslemere is unique. Situated on the borders of Hampshire and West Sussex, this historic market town is one of the gems of the Surrey Hills area of outstanding natural beauty.
At Chestnut View we provide care for the elderly and also those living with Dementia and our Dementia Support Group is here to support the relatives and encourage them to share their stories and experiences. We focus on our residents as individuals and we try to help them live as fulfilling a life as possible with our Wish Tree proving that it is never too late to dream! Our residents all have hobbies and interests and are encouraged to participate and share these with us.
Home Manager, Ajay Mackenzie and her highly trained, friendly team offer person – centred care for which Chestnut View are so well known and our links in the local community enhance this. We’re keen to collaborate with other Care Homes in the area – sharing best practices and maintaining open relationships and each month we invite members of the public to come in and join us for our Friendship Coffee Morning held on the last Monday of each month.
At Chestnut View we have entertainers, musicians, Pets Therapy, bingo games, quizzes, positive reminiscence sessions and a variety of day trips to suit all. Our Activities Team, though not recognised singers, even put on their own concerts showing a lot of courage! If a resident has a birthday or a wedding anniversary, we love to celebrate – the kitchen will prepare a cake for them and we will mark the occasion as the resident and their family would like us to do. We are not just saying it, we are doing it, come and see for yourself.
We recruit people very carefully by way of our Resident Interview panel – encouraging residents to meet the candidates and ask their own questions too. We invest a lot in our staff and make sure they are not only highly trained but encourage them to share their own experiences in monthly educational Workshops. Our staff can also show their individual passions by becoming in-house Champions in areas such as Hydration, Dignity and Customer Service and are recognised in our Employee of the Month nominations. They have a great respect for older people and are dedicated to the job – so much so we have recently held our Long Service Awards Day recognising incredible service of 10 years or more and there were an impressive number of recipients.
Approached by double doors, the moment you walk into Chestnut View you are welcomed by a warm, homely feel. Residents are often seen reading the paper or enjoying a coffee and chat in the reception lobby. A central staircase gives access to the first floor with a gallery landing providing another ‘meeting place’ and access to the dining room.
Chestnut View has several sitting rooms and dining areas, all of which are bright, cheerful and thoughtfully decorated throughout. The tastefully decorated bedrooms are spacious and adaptable with generous ensuite bathrooms. All rooms have private landlines and the facility for Sky TV and there is also free Wi-Fi throughout the home. Whilst wanting to look your best we also have a newly refurbished hairdressing salon.
Outside, the well-maintained gardens have many areas for our residents, family and friends to enjoy. The paved walkways with expanded flowerbeds and grassy lawns provide a delightful retreat at any time of year. The garden offers ample seating and benches from which our residents can survey the garden from all aspects in a secure and safe environment.
